Stayed at the camp all day on my own – had nice quiet time. Jack & Floss went into town, to pictures & see the shops.
Thursday, 21 October 1937
Left 9 this morning for Portland. Done our 5,000 miles. Very foggy all the morning, lovely afternoon, quite warm & sunny. Lovely drive through avenues of trees, arriving here at 5. Called at P. Office, got 2 letters, from Cantor & Everett, then drove through town for cabin 4 miles out of town. Lovely cabin for 1.50 each for 2 nights. Had good tea. Then to a good bedroom.

Went into town of Seattle this morning, took bus in, as we are 6 miles out of town. Went to see Jim Cagney in [Something to] Sing About, very good show. Had a look at all the shops, quite a nice town, got back to the Court at tea time.
Tuesday, 19 October 1937
Left Vancouver today arriving at Seattle just on dark – got to border, Blane [Blaine]. Had to open all luggage for States Custom, too fussy. 150 miles from Vancouver. Nice cabin, 6 miles from town. Quite a nice drive to Seattle.

Just stayed at home all day.
Sunday, 17 October 1937
Called for Mr & Mrs Ensell. Took them for a drive. Went to the new suburb Shanesay [Shaughnessy] – then around Stanley Park. Got back to tea, then went and spent the evening with the Ensells. Got back about 11 o’clock.
Saturday, 16 October 1937
Went to the pictures. Saw Betty Davis in That Kind of Woman – very good. Had lunch at 12.30 then had a look at the 3 main shops – bought stockings & socks. Town not extra big. Came back the cabin about 5.30, almost dark—goods fairly cheap rather wet.

Had good lunch. Went and called on Miss Cooper, had afternoon tea. Raining all day – dark at 5.30, 3 of us went – came home and stopped in for the night.

Went to Mrs Ensel to lunch in Vancouver had pleasant day rang Miss Cooper up.
Wednesday, 13 October 1937
Stayed in all the morning. Cooked dinner. Went for a drive to call on Mrs Ensel.
Promised to go back to lunch tomorrow.
