Went to meet Spriggins, Australia House. Met Mr & Mrs Taylor – big storm they drove me home, came and had afternoon tea in my room – I finished packing for France in the morning.

Went to meet Spriggins, Australia House. Met Mr & Mrs Taylor – big storm they drove me home, came and had afternoon tea in my room – I finished packing for France in the morning.

Packing my things, getting ready for Saturday. Mrs R had lunch with me and Mrs McCabe came in, and brought cakes for afternoon tea.
Got letter from Miss Cantor. Mr & Mrs Spriggins called and had tea and stopped until 10 –

Just stayed in and rested. Wrote letters to the boys, Bella, Elsie, & Jess Batty. Also got letter from Mrs Everett.
Tuesday, 10 August 1937
Went to Dr Whitsitt today. Says I have dropped 20 pounds which is very good. Says I can go on Saturday to Paris. Went to Frames , found they had cancelled my trip. But we got over that. I payed [sic] £18 .18.0 for my ticket.

Went to American Consul for visa then took bus to Strand. No letters for anyone, accident in Colombo, boat held up for a week. Came back; the Halls, McCabe & Robin’s all had tea in my room.

Went to see “Garden of Allah”. Marie [Marlene] Dietrich then took bus to Strand Palace where Robin & I sat all the afternoon, had tea there also.
