Arrived in Fremantle at 7 in the morning. Met Mr & Mrs Ward, friends of Mr Spriggins. Took us all around Perth. Very pretty, war memorial lovely position. Saw all that was to be seen in Perth. Had lunch at top of Post Office then took motor bus to Kalamunda Hills, a round trip. Back to boat for dinner. Left Free at 7 in the evening, after a lovely day. Played bridge at night. Opened bottle of champagne! Mr Spriggins birthday, awful stuff, took ½ bottle to Mrs Hill. Won 6° at bridge.

Went to church in the morning played bridge at night with Mrs [E] Everett [age 60 from 11 Park Avenue, St John Hill, Wanganui, NZ], Mr & Mrs Hill [Mrs E., age 59, and Mr J., age 60 from NZ]. Won 6 °

Just sat around, and watched the crowd. Generally go on deck with Mr & Mrs Spriggins. Sit with them, eat chocs, doze or yarn.

Weather not too good, cool, and showery. A great crowd on deck. The Minister with the kangaroo’s fell this morning, and seriously hurt himself.
He had 2 kangaroos.

Thursday, 25 February 1937
Very hot day. Went ashore with Mr & Mrs Spriggins. Took tram to Adelaide from outer harbour. Did the town, then took train to Glenelg, the show beach; very nice. Came back to town and had dinner at Myers North Terrace. A lovely street. Did Art Gallery, Shrine very nice. Got back to boat at 4. Very hot, had the first dance of the trip at night tho music awful. Had supper in Mrs [E] Shuren’s [age 42] cabin; lobster & beer.

Left here at 5 – good send off. First dance on board. Had old time waltz. With Mrs Shuren.

Arrived at Adelaide at 11.30. Very pretty at sea. Lovely trip from Melbourne.

Arrived in Melbourne about 7 today, after a very rough trip from Hobart. Lost the quarter master overboard on Sunday night during the storm, very sad. Met the smartest thing. Had dinner at Myers; good meal, a lovely shop. Took train to St Kilda, had a good look around. Back to boat for dinner. Very cold & wet.

Weather pretty rough. Went to church on board. Not sick yet, standing up well to it.
Hundreds of cigarettes given to me. Also lots & lots of chocolate when leaving Sydney.
