Thirza Pidgeon’s 1937 World Tour – 2 August: Hampstead Heath then a River Thames cruise

Monday, 2 August 1937

Mrs Robinson & I had lunch in my room, then left for Hampstead Heath. Got there about 12.30. Saw all that was to be seen, got back at 5, had an early tea, then took boat from Westminster Bridge for Greenwich, packed, down the River Thames. Got back at 9.30 then we went to Lyons Corner House, the Strand, for supper. Molly, Dorothy, Mrs R and myself.

Thirza Pidgeon’s 1937 World Tour – 15 April: Went out to see a mannequin parade

Thursday, 15 April 1937

Another wretched day. Went into Strand to N.Z. rooms to meet Miss Slattery, then to Marshall and Snelsons [most likely Marshall and Snelgrove in Oxford St], to a mannequin parade. Very nice show, had afternoon tea there also and a good look around. Back to 130 for dinner then out to meet Fay and her husband. Saw White Oaks, her husband, very good looking. Had coffee & biscuits in his office. Back by tube at 12.

Although not mentioned in her diary, Thirza had an invitation to the Royal Mews at Buckingham Palace to view the King's Stables, which was date stamped on the back, 15 April 1937
