Left Wilbur this morning, had very nice cottage. One dollar each for the night. Had a lovely day, passing some wonderful scenery, of all description, very mountainous country, lovely lakes, where we had lunch then through the desert, and petrified forest [Ginkgo Petrified Forest State Park], through the national forest,  some lovely roads, trees being all colours. Arrived at Fall’s City [Fall City]. Staying in an hotel for the night. Two dollars for the 3 of us.

Crossed the border at 9 – drove through the American Rockies, very good scenery. Arrived at Wilbur for the night, lots of cars, horse racing being at Wilbur for 8 days.
