Thirza Pidgeon’s 1937 World Tour – 4 July: Return to Bo’ness through the Trossachs and Lake country

Sunday, 4 July 1937

Rather rainy, left for a lovely drive over the hills, some covered with heather. Left Dunkeld about 10, through Aberfeldy. Loch Tay, a beautiful lake 20 miles long, Loch Earn, Lochs Lubnaig, Venachar, Katrine, Archray to Killearn, Lochearnhead. Callander for lunch, then to the Trossachs – had a walk around the scenery was marvellous, hills everywhere and falls. Through wonderful country, Aberfoyle on to Fintry, where we had tea there to Falkirk and on to Bo’ness. Got back about 9, a lovely weekend, enjoyed every bit of it.

Thirza Pidgeon’s 1937 World Tour – 3 July: Weekend tour to Dunkeld and Pitlochry

Saturday, 3 July 1937

Rather dull, after dinner at Bo’ness, Jim, Elsie & wee Jim took car for a weekend tour. Left here at 2.30 over the Kincardine Bridge to Perth. Had a rotten afternoon tea here, then off to Dunkeld where we stayed the night. Had tea, bed & breakfast, for 22/-. Left at 10 next day, Sunday. After tea, went for a drive to Pitlochry, a pretty place. Started to rain so came back to Mrs Cameron to spend the night. Sat yarning in the lounge room until about 10, quite light, then to bed.
