Thirza Pidgeon’s 1937 World Tour – 5 October: Calgary to Banff, AB

Tuesday, 5 October 1937

Left Calgary this morning to Banff, lovely drive through the Canadian Rockies. Mountains all covered in snow, roads much better. [Approx. 80 miles]

Had lunch at Calgary arrived here in time for tea. Got nice cabin with big stove, so had grilled chops for tea. Very nice nice little village, with snow clad mountains all around us. Kept fire alight all night . cold.

Possibly on the way from Medicine Hat to Banff, Alberta, Canada; 5 October 1937

Thirza Pidgeon’s 1937 World Tour – 4 October: Medicine Hat to Calgary, AB – 195 miles

Monday, 4 October 1937

Left Medicine Hat, this morning, worst drive I have ever had, over fear full roads, greasy, heavy and slushy – shocking state, did not get to Calgary until 8.30  – where we had tea in an auto camp – all pretty tired, The car is just covered in mud. Snow everywhere about 204 miles out from Calgary. Pretty big town.

Posted letters today.
